The NeuroReceptive Philosophy

Igniting curiosity means embracing individuality

Being NeuroReceptive means rethinking the process of teaching and learning to match it to individual students and their unique personalities and minds. It means championing diverse minds, and advocating for an approach to education where learning is not just a destination, but a lifelong adventure.

Respecting Diverse Minds

No two brains are exactly the same, but all are worthy  of respect. There is a vast diversity of learning styles and a myriad of ways to thrive in our world. To be NeuroReceptive is to open your mind to the minds of others, fostering an inclusive environment where every student can achieve success.

Nurturing Self-Esteem

Every student has inherent value and potential both within and beyond the confines of outdated school systems and standardized testing. By acknowledging and nurturing each student's worth, we can build self-esteem and forge a pathway to learn.

Re-Wiring Learning Pathways

Every person deserves respect for their passions and interests. Education should unequivocally reflect and respect these individual elements. Playing games, indulging curiosity, and high-interest learning reforges neural pathways to help students overcome subject-related stress and build resilience.

NeuroReceptive works hard to facilitate and design a personalized learning journey for each student.

Hello and welcome! I am a dedicated, passionate educator with a degree in neuroscience. Over the past decade, I've served as a tutor, curriculum creator, nanny, mentor, and academic interventionist, placing a strong emphasis on fostering uplifting and supportive relationships with my students and the young ones I've worked with. My joy in this vocation, as owner and operator of NeuroReceptive, is to meet each student where they are and craft for them individualized, inventive paths to success.

Having been born and raised in Colorado, I possess a lifelong familiarity with the local schooling systems. Having ADHD myself and experiencing difficulty throughout my schooling, coupled with being part of a family of educators and visual artists, instilled in me the crucial role that teachers and mentors play in guiding individuals with diverse learning styles. Not only did this inspire my path, but this guidance also taught me how to effectively channel my creative ability into academic success.

While pursuing my neuroscience degree at the University of Colorado, I steered away from a pre-med track to delve into the intricate connection between learning disabilities and our brain's systems. My exploration into ADHD and its impact on our brain's rewards center, frontal lobe, and executive functioning revealed that by altering neural pathways, we can rewire our circuitry and create an environment that sparks enthusiasm for learning. I combine my training in Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell, and other targeted academic methods with this philosophy to help my students thrive.

As a NeuroReceptive educator, I cooperatively reimagine what education can look like, ensuring the achievement and self-confidence of each student impacted by my work. I look forward to meeting you and your student to discuss how we can work together to support their present and future goals!
