NeuroReceptive specializes in building bridges to unlock student success through their interests, desires, and goals…particularly those students who have not yet had their educational needs met in other academic environments. My focus is creating personalized resources and materials that can travel to any learning environment. My training in Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell, and other targeted interventions allows me to create these resources using the best practice methodologies for the supplemental education of students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and specific learning disabilities in academic areas.
Combining proven methodology with highly personalized curriculum provides students with executive functioning strategies, a foothold into difficult material, and fun and excitement that is often missing in learning! Infusing fun and creativity into the learning experience builds self-esteem and empowers students to tackle assignments outside their typical wheelhouse. In short, a brain having fun in a safe, supportive environment is a brain that can learn!
Personalized Education Plans
The Personalized Education Plan is grounded in understanding, respecting, and supporting each unique learner. This service includes the creation of curriculum tailored to individual learning needs and styles, coupled with targeted one-on-one tutoring and support. Targeted tutoring helps to determine student’s strengths and preferences: Are they auditory or visual learners? Do they prefer sensory input or written instruction? Do they lack confidence or conceptual understanding in specific subjects? Once we develop a clearer picture of your student’s needs, I can create customized curriculum, examples of which include:
Educational board games tailored to special interests
Visual schedules and classroom aids
Multi-sensory learning activities
Executive function tools and strategies
High-interest, differentiated reading, writing, and math curriculum
Once this curriculum is created, I continue to work alongside students in order to build their confidence and engagement with the material and the radical idea that learning can be joyful and passion-driven.
One-on-One Instruction
For many students, learning can only start from a place of comfort, trust, and support. Tailored for those seeking a seamless continuation of their Personalized Education Plan with a specific academic goal in mind, I offer intensive academic assistance, one-on-one attention, and the continuation of a strong mentor-student connection. Whether your student is learning to read, overwhelmed by writing, or building foundations in math, I offer targeted instruction in a supportive environment that empowers students to build on their educational foundation. During each personalized session, students engage in targeted exercises and activities that cater to their unique learning styles and interests, all with specific academic goals in mind.
